It’s official: the biography I’ve written about “Mama Rose” Hovick of Gypsy fame will be published in 2013 by University Press of Mississippi.  The full story of the woman whose life was portrayed on Broadway by Ethel Merman, Angela Lansbury, Tyne Daly, Bernadette Peters and Patti LuPone and in films by Rosalind Russell and Bette Midler has never before been told.

Stand by, ladies and gents!  The book is ready to roll so please stay tuned.  There will be regular updates here and on my website.

Here is an article about the book by Felicia Lee in The New York Times Arts Beat Blog:

Everything about this project is “coming up roses!”
