A Few Holiday Gift Suggestions

Me, with antlers.

Me, with antlers.

‘Tis the season to be jolly.  ‘Tis also the season for people to get stumped over just what the heck to buy for that family member or friend who’s already got everything.  Here are a few splendiferous gift ideas for you:

The Ancestry.com DNA Test:  It costs over a hundred dollars but it’s worth it.  Not only will Ancestry give you information about your heritage that you may never have known before but they will match you up with distant cousins you didn’t know you had!  Ancestry.com will even allow you to email your long-lost family through their website.  Go for it!  Until I took the test, I had no idea I was almost half Scandinavian.  Since I love all things Scandinavian, I’m still rejoicing over it.  Give the gift of finding out who you really are.

Nice Work if You Can Get It Original Broadway Cast Recording – My personal pick for best Broadway album of 2012.

Boardwalk Empire Season One Original Soundtrack – Easily the best compilation of 1920’s songs ever recorded with modern vocalists and music by Brooklyn’s own bandleader Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks.  Hey producers at HBO, if you happen to find this blog, bring on the album for Season Two!

Everything 4 Less Store – Check out this unusual online store to find something unusual for just about everybody!  There’s comics, old time radio shows, Karaoke discs, DVD’s, you name it and you can find it right here: http://www.everything4lessstore.com

Barnes & Noble Godiva Chocolates Gift Card Holder – The chocolates are $8.00.  You decide how much to put the gift card.  It makes for a great little double gift.

Stones in Harmony Jewelry – original jewelry by Elizabeth Wald that’s just plain fabulous!  Copy, paste and take a look at http://www.stonesinharmony.com

Flower Drum Song, Call Me Madam and Can-Can DVD’s – Three movies based on Broadway musicals that are not only a lot of fun but are almost artsy in their use of color.

Ten Thousand Villages Website – support artisans from all over the world by buying gorgeous original gifts at the stunning website http://www.tenthousandvillages.com.

Ed Wise and His New Orleans Jazz Band – two incredibly good CD’s by one of my favorite bands of all time are available at: http://www.edwisemusician.com

Annie on Broadway – I’ve saved the best one for kids for last.  Start your children off right with exposure to Broadway at one of the best musicals ever written!  Bring your New York City-area kids to see Annie at the Palace Theater or, if you live too far away, get treat them to Annie gifts at http://www.anniethemusical.com.

There you have it, folks!  Go forth and spread a little Christmas cheer, and God bless us, every one!

Here’s some highlights from Annie:
