It’s July 18th – Nelson Mandela’s 95th Birthday. The United Nations has also declared that July 18th is International Mandela Day, which was established to inspire people to take action to make the world a better place. The man who once sat in prison for 27 years for fighting against apartheid in South Africa, then was elected President when he finally was let out, is a living example of the spirit that dwells within anyone who has ever been persecuted, treated unfairly or plain old-fashioned bullied. He never lost heart, faith or hope. Just because you’ve been unceremoniously pushed down does not mean you can’t get right back up again!
Nelson Mandela is living proof. It would have been amazing enough that he inspired his nation. Now with the establishment of International Mandela Day, he’ll have the chance to inspire the world!
